Mouth guards for grinding teeth are plastic devices worn during the night while sleeping to protect the teeth from becoming worn-out or chipped.
Teeth abrasion is most often caused by bad habits (bruxism - "teeth grinding") manifested particularly at night, subconsciously, or during the day in moments of maximum concentration and stress.
If this is the case, the use mouth guards during night sleep is recommended, especially if you have dental restorations or composite fillings and need to protect them and also if your natural teeth show signs of excessive abrasion or if you have painful symptoms or muscle fatigue during the day.
It is recommended to wear mouth guards also if you show signd of temporomandibular joint dysfunction.
• Brush your teeth and use dental floss, brush your tongue and use mouthwash before using the mouthguard.
• Always leave the guard under running warm water before using it.
• Clean the guard under cold water after use with a toothbrush and soap, and rinse well.
• Leave the mouthguard to dry in it's case when it's not used.
